Self-taught plastic artist, he was born on the beach of Jurujuba, Niterói, in the state of Rio de Janeiro – right next to the city of Rio de Janeiro, where at the age of six, he started to sketch his first crayons. His figurative work is composed by the images of the land, Indians, Afro-Brazilians and Caboclos (the Brazilian mixed race between white and Indian), surrounded by outstanding colors and textures. His themes aim to emphasize and preserve the Brazilian culture and its own roots. Son of Baianos – (from Bahia – the state of Brazil with the highest concentration of Afro-Brazilians) – the mother is black, granddaughter of Brazilian Indians and his father – the artist Milton Brasil – is grandson of Italians and Portuguese immigrants, Élon sips from his history and origins the inspiration of his work. He became known internationally when living in Switzerland for six months, where he had several opportunities of exhibiting his work and still paint several orders for European collectors.
